What do you do and why?
Speech Pathologist
Throughout my entire life always dreamed of working with people within a health or educational profession. As I explored career options, I was drawn to Speech Pathology due to the diversity of clients that I would be able to work with. The variety in client age and challenges was appealing to me and continues to be a significant reason that I love my job, it is also one of the more challenging aspects.
What do you love most about your profession?
There is always more to learn. This is a challenging but motivating area of my profession. I am constantly learning more about my clients and myself in a variety of ways. Speech Pathology is a profession where I will always be able to further develop my knowledge and skills for both face to face client management as well as behind the scenes. Getting to know clients and their families is a part of this continual learning process and it is an honour to have families let you into their lives.
What aspirations do you have for joining the team at SFFC?
To develop my skills working with clients holistically with the support of a multidisciplinary team. To develop long term relationships with clients and their families and to help them develop skills at various stages in their development. In terms of my own skills, I will continue to develop skills in paediatric feeding and developing a multidisciplinary team of support within this area.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? Why?
Telekinesis, the power to move objects with my mind. This super power goes back to my childhood love of witches. I would be able to use these powers to play tricks on others and entertain myself. Plus, it would be really convenient and would help make my days more efficient.
What breed of dog best describes you? Why?
Saint Bernard. Natural caregiver, interested in helping people.
What colour best describes your personality? Why?
Red. Passionate, can be a bit of a hot head but can also move on from this and manage it constructively. I love being surrounded by other people that have similar values to myself.
