SPEECH PATHOLOGIST – DEPARTMENT MANAGER

 

Sophie has worked for many years as a Speech Pathologist in the western suburbs of Sydney and is a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia. She has extensive experience with children in her role as a Speech Pathologist, research assistant for the University of Sydney, creche worker and as an ice skating teacher. Sophie is interested in all areas of Speech Pathology, particularly in the areas of early language, literacy, feeding and speech sound disorders. She believes the multidisciplinary approach to therapy like that practised by Spring Forward is invaluable.

  2. What do you do? (profession) and why??
    Speech Pathologist. Communication is how we express our wants and needs, how we connect with others and how we stand up for ourselves. As a Speech Pathologist, I can support children and their parents develop and refine their communication.
  3. What do you love most about your profession?
    Success after hard work, and the look on the faces of children and their parents when they realise this success.
  4. What aspirations do you have for joining the team at SFFC?
    Continued professional development, genuine teamwork and making a difference for children most in need.
  5. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
    Flying, because it would be super cool and I’d save bucket loads on petrol.
  6. What breed of dog best describes you and why?
    Golden retriever – calm, loyal and bored when not challenged.
  7. What colour best describes your personality and why?
    Green- nature loving, still growing

    Knowledge is Power
  9. If you could be a dinosaur, what would you be?
    Triceratops- cause I wonder what my life would be like if my best defence was to head butt.

    Learning through experience why there is a no socks policy in the Jungle gym… by falling like only adults can on my back.

    Sophie: (grabs spoon) Guys let me cut it in half with my knife
    Kid: That’s not a knife, THIS IS A KNIFE!
