PHYSIOTHERAPIST

More Info

  1. In 5 words or less… Who are you?
I am Lavina – physio by day, henna artist/photographer/dancer by night!
  2. What do you do? (profession) and why??
I graduated from WSU’s Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Physiotherapy at the end of 2016. When it came to choosing a career, I wasn’t clear on a specific job. What I did know was that I am passionate about human health and enjoyed helping improve the wellbeing of others. With this knowledge in mind, I chose to pursue a career in Physiotherapy and can safely say there are no regrets! As it turns out, Physiotherapy is so much more than just massages.

I have grown to love my profession more each day as I learn about the wider role we play in our community and health care system. What inspires me the most about working as a physio is how much trust people place within us. I love that I am not only physically, but mentally and emotionally able to support my clients and provide a light at the end of their tunnel.

  3. What do you love most about your profession?
Working with the kids! Apparently my supervisor way back in pre-school made a comment in my report about how caring and ‘motherly’ I was towards the other children there at the centre, and since then I’ve recognised how naturally fond I am of paediatrics.
  4. What aspirations do you have for joining the team at SFFC?
I want to start a fracture clinic! It would also be cool to have ‘Dance Intensives’ one day…
  5. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
Healing powers… For cuts and bruises, and also Cancer, Alzheimer’s and ASD.
  6. What breed of dog best describes you and why?
A Westie (West Highland Terrier) because I own a puppy of this breed and he’s protective and persistent.
  7. What colour best describes your personality and why?
Turquoise- my absolute favourite colour. It’s got soothing, positive and empathetic vibes to it.
  8. Favourite quote, comment, or words of wisdom?
Just keep swimming; or Everything happens for a reason.
  9. If you could be a dinosaur, what would you be?
    The flying one!
  10. Favourite TV show or movie made for ‘children’?
The Saddle Club, Lizzie McGuire, The Emperor’s New Groove, Finding Nemo, Stuart Little
  11. Most embarrassing (PG) story…
This one time I was sitting at the top of the ramp in the big room at Spring Forward, while my client was climbing up the ramp. His feet suddenly slipped so he suddenly grabbed my leg to pull himself up but instead he just grabbed my pants and yanked them half down!
  12. Funniest Kid Quote/story..
“I did this massive poo and it felt like I split my hole, do you know what I mean?”
