Executive Assistant

Lauren has been working in the healthcare industry for over a decade in both nursing and administrative roles. Completing her Bachelor of Nursing in 2008, she went on to secure a New Grad program in Perioperative Nursing at North Shore Private Hospital. Upon relocating to Lake Macquarie, she changed specialty to Community Nursing, working as a Community Aged Care Manager for two major home care providers.

Another move back to Sydney saw Lauren take a new direction into Rehabilitation Nursing, working as an RN Team Leader at Mt Wilga Private Hospital – where she happened to cross paths with a new OT named Michelle… Ready for another change, Lauren then moved into Practice Nursing for a large medical centre in Hornsby where she was introduced to the paediatric health care sector. Never one to waste time, she also took on a reception role at the same medical centre, gaining experience in a whole new aspect of administration.

One last change in specialty saw Lauren move into Telehealth, working for a leading provider of absence management and telephone based injury triage and management. During this time Lauren realised her interest in health-based administration, and after discovering her former colleague, Michelle, had created Spring Forward, she was delighted to join the team at the start of 2018.
She hopes to share her experience in multiple areas of health care, as well as her extensive and enthusiastic organisational skills!

Fun Facts

In 5 words or less… Who are you?

An animal loving movie addict.

What do you do? (profession) and why??

I am qualified as a Registered Nurse, but I also have experience in Management and Administration. It is very exciting to find a role where I can combine all of this together to support the clients, families and the Spring Forward team to flourish.

What do you love most about your profession?

The thing I love most about working in health care is being able to utilise my skills and knowledge to help other people heal, grow and become more confident in themselves. It is very rewarding to assist others to reach their goals and achieve things they didn’t think were possible. I also adore stationery and spreadsheets, so working in admin is pure joy!

What aspirations do you have for joining the team at SFFC?

My initial goal is to assist the executive team wherever needed to ensure smooth functioning and organisation of the admin side of things. In the future I would love to use my planning and organising skills to assist with project creation and management.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

I would love to have the power of teleportation – instantaneous travel between two locations. I would use this power to visit my loved ones, provide aid in times of crisis, and explore the world!

What breed of dog best describes you and why?

The dog that best describes me is also one of my favourites – the Cocker Spaniel. Aside from the big brown eyes and curly hair, the Cocker Spaniel is said to have a gentle and affectionate temperament, and an adaptable and attentive nature. While they can be nervous and shy around new people, they love their family and are eager to please – but sometimes they can be a bit cheeky… Not to mention, they are very fond of being pampered!

What colour best describes your personality and why?

The colour that best describes me is another favourite of mine – teal or turquoise. It is often associated with calming, patience, loyalty and creativity. It also makes me think of one of my favourite animals – the peacock.

Favourite quote, comment, or words of wisdom?

I can’t choose between two…
Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’ – Audrey Hepburn
Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud – Maya Angelou

If you could be a dinosaur, what would you be?

I am really terrified of dinosaurs, so I’m going to go with the Minmi because it is cute and it is a herbivore.

Favourite TV show or movie made for ‘children’?

Growing up, my favourite Disney movie was Beauty and the Beast – I loved having a role model who was brave and into reading!

Most embarrassing (PG) story…

I was in the music program in high school, and as a favour to a friend I agreed to stand in on the xylophone when the school band was playing in a big competition. My friend told me it would be the same as playing the piano, so I was pretty confident. However, I came to find that playing the xylophone is nothing like playing the piano, and I spent the whole 7 minute performance miming playing with the wrong end of the sticks…

Funniest Kid Quote/story..

When I was working in a medical centre, I once treated a little girl who came in with a lolly stuck up her nose. Making conversation while trying to remove the lolly, I asked her how it got up there. She told me that she had received a gift bag from a party and had eaten lots of lollies, but was too full for the last one. She decided to hide it up her nose so her brother couldn’t have it!
