I love to play during therapy. I love to see the difference that being involved and engaged in play can make to therapeutic outcomes.

Hadrosaurus.

If you were a dog what would you be?

Staffordshire Bull Terrier x German Shepherd.

What’s your Hogwarts house?

Hufflepuff.

What’s your favourite movie/movie genre?

Dunstan Checks In or Danny Deckchair.

What’s your favourite TV show?

Schitts Creek.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

My Grandparents.

What is a hidden skill you have?

Can sleep in indefinitely on Sundays, and also squat 115kg.

Funny quote a child has said to you?

During the game the floor is lava, a child begins walking on the floor.
Leah: “Hey!” (points at child’s feet)
Child: “Yeah, I just put my lava boots on.”

Hobbies and Interests:

  • Getting crafty
  • Exploring on two feet or wheels
  • Absorbing some tasty live tunes

Memorable Moments of Impact:

  • Aggressive and grossly misunderstood boy who swore incessantly became calm, grounded, and not a single swear word during or after our first session of messy play.

  • First consecutive moments of eye contact with child who struggles with engagement, previous no eye contact, and non-verbal – following 5 hour long weekly sessions focused on DIR Floor time model. 
  • Child who struggles with noticing affordances of interaction – one week walked into therapy and said, “hey Leah, look dinosaur!” (Showing me his new dinosaur toy).
